Bellingham is one of the Pacific Northwest’s core mountain-bike towns. Galbraith Mountain, on the city’s edge, holds a dense, well-built network of flow and technical trails maintained by the Whatcom Mountain Bike Coalition, and the nearby Chuckanut Mountain ridgeline adds classic tech riding above the Salish Sea. Waterfront routes like the South Bay Trail and Interurban connect town to the coast and the Fairhaven district.
Downtown, the Hotel Leo is a genuinely bike-friendly base: it offers a locked bike room and a bike-wash station (with repair stands in the works), making it easy to stash and clean a bike between rides on Galbraith or Chuckanut.
For rentals, Fanatik Bike Co. on N State Street keeps a fleet of dialed demo/rental mountain bikes minutes from Galbraith, with 4-, 6-, and 24-hour options. Dig Deep Tours rents full-suspension mountain bikes, e-MTBs, and gravel bikes ($75–$85 half/full day for standard, $110–$135 for e-bikes) and will deliver them to the Galbraith trailhead for $45, on top of running guided tours. Riding is good much of the year, with the dry May-through-October window best.
On Memorial Day weekend the town throws Ski to Sea, a 93-mile, seven-leg relay from Mount Baker down to Bellingham Bay with both road- and cyclocross-bike legs — worth planning around whether you race or spectate.
