Cycling in Fort Collins

Fort Collins is one of the most bikeable cities in the country, with a flat, connected grid, the Spring Creek and Poudre River trails, and easy pedaling between downtown, the CSU campus, and Old Town’s brewery district. It routinely ranks among the top US cycling cities and is well suited to casual cruisers and mountain bikers heading to nearby Lory State Park and Horsetooth.
The historic Armstrong Hotel in Old Town is the standout bike-friendly stay: it lends guests free cruiser bikes on a first-come, first-served basis (generally six to ten available), with helmets and locks included and staff who suggest routes. It’s an easy ride to Old Town breweries and the Poudre Trail from the front door.

Every August New Belgium Brewing throws Tour de Fat, a costumed bike parade through town followed by music and games — a Fort Collins tradition of more than two decades that leads with the bicycle.
