Cycling in Hermann

Hermann sits on the south bank of the Missouri River, just across from the Katy Trail’s McKittrick trailhead (Mile 100.8). A dedicated pedestrian/bike bridge and spur link the town to the crushed-limestone rail-trail, so riders can roll straight from downtown wineries and B&Bs onto the trail. The riding is flat and scenic, threading river bluffs and vineyards, with Hermannhof, Stone Hill, and Adam Puchta wineries all within town.
For a bike-friendly stay, several downtown inns cater to cyclists with secure bike storage: the Vinchester Inn and the Captain Wohlt Inn are both a short ride from the trail bridge, and Hermann Hill Vineyard Inn offers post-ride spa amenities and points guests to nearby rentals. Because Hermann is a small town, lodging that actively markets a bike program is limited, but bike storage and walkable-to-trail locations are common.
Rentals in town come from Pedego Electric Bikes Hermann (208 Schiller St), which rents e-bikes stocked for the trail. For point-to-point logistics, Katy Trail Tours & Shuttle (based in Clinton) runs shuttles serving Hermann. Peak season runs spring through fall, with wildflowers in April-May and grape harvest and Oktoberfest crowds in September-October.
Every weekend through October, Hermann celebrates its German winemaking heritage with Oktoberfest, pairing food, wine, and music — an easy stop off the Katy Trail that runs through town.
