Cycling in Incline Village
Best season: June–October
Incline Village sits on Lake Tahoe’s Nevada corner with two of the lake’s defining rides at its door. The Tahoe East Shore Trail — a three-mile paved path opened in 2019 and billed as “America’s Most Beautiful Bikeway” — hugs the granite shoreline from town to Sand Harbor State Park, passing Hidden Beach and the Memorial Point overlook. It’s flat enough for kids, and cyclists pay just a couple dollars to roll into Sand Harbor while drivers queue for parking.
Mountain bikers come for the Flume Trail, the classic singletrack traverse hundreds of feet above the water. The local formula is simple: rent at Flume Trail Bikes’ Tunnel Creek station, catch the morning shuttle to Spooner Lake, and ride roughly 14 miles back to the shop with the whole east shore below you.
Hotels here actually put you on a bike. The Incline Lodge lends complimentary pedal bikes to guests (with Aventon e-bikes for hire), and the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe hosts Big Blue Bike Rentals right off its lobby — hybrids, e-bikes, and mountain bikes with helmet, lock, and map included, plus a car-free path toward the East Shore Trail.
The season is snow-bound at both ends: plan on June through October, and book bikes ahead on summer weekends, when the East Shore Trail draws big crowds by mid-morning.
