Cycling in Killington

Best season: Late May–late October

Killington runs the biggest lift-served bike park in the Northeast, and it rides like it. The Killington Bike Park spreads 35 designated trails and nearly 2,000 feet of vertical across the mountain, fed by three high-speed lifts — the K-1 Express Gondola, the Snowshed Express Quad, and the Ramshead Express Quad. Beginners start on the mellow flow at the Snowshed base and work up to fast jump lines like Blue Magic and Black Magic, while experts point it down technical, rooty double-blacks such as The Beast and Scarecrow. The park was built out in partnership with Whistler’s Gravity Logic crew, which shows in how the trails progress.

Renting here is easy because the resort’s own Killington Bike Shop at Snowshed keeps the largest rental fleet in the East — over 150 bikes, including Rocky Mountain park bikes and a dual-crown downhill upgrade for riders who want the real thing. Full-face helmet, pads, and shoes come with the rental; lift access is a separate add-on, so factor that in. Prefer an independent shop? Base Camp on Route 4 rents true downhill rigs like the Santa Cruz V10, and First Stop Board Barn has cheaper reserved enduro bikes.

For lodging, the slopeside Killington Grand sits a walkable ski-bridge from the bike-park base, while Turn of River Lodge runs a genuine bike-and-stay deal with a partner shop, storage, and a wash station. The park opens in late May and runs through late October.
