San Diego’s North County coast is some of the best casual beach riding in the country, and it runs nearly year-round. The classic route is Coast Highway 101, threading the beach towns — Solana Beach, Cardiff, Encinitas, Del Mar — with the Pacific on one side most of the way, plus the climbs and coves around Torrey Pines and La Jolla to the south.
You can pick up a beach cruiser or e-bike in Solana Beach, Encinitas, and La Jolla, and guided e-bike tours run the La Jolla coastline. The riding is flat and mild near the water, with optional hills whenever you want to earn a view.
