Cycling in Wenatchee

Best season: April–October

Wenatchee, in north-central Washington, wraps around the Columbia River, and its star ride is the Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trail: a paved ~10-mile loop running along both riverbanks, joined at each end by bridges (about 22 miles if you add the Lincoln Rock and Kirby Billingsley spurs). The west bank is flat and easy; the east bluffs add some grade if you want it.

The trail passes right by riverfront parks and hotels — including one where guests can borrow bikes — so it’s easy to roll from your room straight onto the path. Spring through fall is the season; summers are hot and low on shade, so carry water.
